MarkifyAI is an AI-powered, 100% offline document-to-Markdown converter for Android.
We are committed to protecting your privacy. This privacy policy explains how we handle
your data when you use our application.
The short version: Your documents never leave your device. All file
conversions happen entirely on your phone using local processing engines. We do not
collect, store, or transmit any of your documents or personal data to any server.
Data Collection
What We Do NOT Collect
- We do not collect, store, or transmit your documents to any server
- We do not track your file contents, file names, or conversion history
- We do not use analytics or third-party tracking SDKs for user behavior
- We do not require account creation, login, or personal information
What Is Stored Locally on Your Device
- Conversion history, editor drafts, projects, and custom prompt templates are stored in a local Room database on your device only
- User preferences (theme, auto-save setting) are stored locally via Android DataStore
- Converted Markdown and exported files can be saved to your device's
Documents/MarkifyAI folder
- All locally stored database logs and files are deleted when you uninstall the app
Document Processing
All document conversion is performed 100% on your device using the following
offline processing engines:
- Apache PDFBox — PDF text extraction (offline, open source)
- Apache POI — Microsoft Office document parsing: DOCX, XLSX, PPTX (offline, open source)
- Google ML Kit — On-device optical character recognition for images (offline, runs entirely on device)
- Jsoup — HTML parsing for URL-to-Markdown conversion (open source)
- Java ZipInputStream — ZIP archive extraction and batch conversion (standard Java library)
None of these document processing libraries collect or transmit any user data.

Advertising
MarkifyAI uses Google AdMob to display banner and interstitial advertisements.
This is the only third-party service that may access the internet during app usage.
AdMob may collect certain device information, such as advertising identifiers and general
device metadata, in accordance with
Google's Privacy Policy.
Important: AdMob does not have access to your documents,
file contents, or conversion history. Ad serving is completely separate from document processing.
App Permissions
- INTERNET — Required for URL-to-Markdown conversion (fetching web pages) and displaying advertisements
- READ_EXTERNAL_STORAGE — Access files you select for conversion (Android 12 and below)
- WRITE_EXTERNAL_STORAGE — Save converted files to Documents/MarkifyAI folder (Android 9 and below)
- POST_NOTIFICATIONS — Show conversion progress notifications (optional)
Data Retention & Deletion
- Conversion history, editor drafts, projects, and custom prompts are retained locally until you choose to delete them
- Clear individual history entries, drafts, or projects from their respective workspace screens
- Clear all local database logs from Settings
- Uninstalling the app removes all locally stored database logs and documents completely
- We have no server-side data — everything is stored locally on your device
Children's Privacy
MarkifyAI does not knowingly collect data from children under the age of 13.
The app does not require account creation or any personal information.
All processing is local and does not involve user identification.
Changes to This Policy
We may update this privacy policy from time to time. Any changes will be reflected
on this page with an updated "Last updated" date. We encourage you to review this
policy periodically.
